Leagues
La Grange Babe Ruth has three baseball leagues. Players 13-years-old
through 18-years-old play under a charter/franchise from Babe Ruth League,
Inc. headquartered in Trenton NJ. All games are played on regulation
diamonds with 90' bases. The home fields are in Sedgwick Park,
in La Grange, Illinois. All leagues are furnished full uniforms (turned
in at end of season.)
Prep League
The prep league is for 13-year-olds only. At this age the players
are introduced to major league baseball rules on a major league size
field. The rules are modified in this preparatory league to provide a
lot of baseball for the players. We have continuous batting and unlimited
substitution for the games in this league. Normally they play a schedule
of 14-16 games At the end of their season
they participate in an inter league tournament.
Junior League
The Junior League is for 14 and 15 year olds. The normal schedule
is 16-18 games. At the end of their season they participate in an inter league
tournament.
Senior League
The Senior League is for 16 through 18 year olds. They play 18-
20 games This league plays a lot of night games.
All Star Teams
Five All Star teams are selected near the end of the season:
One 13-year-old team from the prep league.
One 14-year-old team and one 15-year-old team from the junior
league.
From the senior league one 16-year-old team and one 17-18-year-old
team.
All but the 16-year-old team are entered in the Babe Ruth tournaments and could
advance to the State tournament. The State winner goes to the Regional
tournament, then the Regional winner goes to the Babe Ruth World Series.
The 16-year-old team will enter a local tournament.
