We’re honored to announce the Matt Engels Memorial Scholarship in remembrance of our friend, coach, and mentor, Matt Engels. A gifted athlete and dedicated coach, Matt left a lasting impact on La Grange youth by teaching more than just baseball—he taught life lessons, built confidence, and led with heart. To carry on his legacy, we will award an annual college scholarship to a high school senior or college freshman who has participated in La Grange Little League, Babe Ruth, or Softball and demonstrates Matt’s values: selflessness, community commitment, and support for others.

Player nominations
In May, we will share the scholarship nomination form with criteria and instructions for submitting nominations. Players will nominate themselves and will be asked to submit a short essay.

Want to contribute?
Donors commit to $100 annually for 10 years starting in May 2025. All funds go directly toward the yearly scholarship. The inaugural scholarship will be awarded in June 2025.
